Rohantha wins Rotary Top PR/Marketing Award 2021

Marketing professional Rohantha Athukorala was awarded the Top PR/Marketing Award at the Rotary Sri Lanka and Maldives Awards 2020/21.

Athukorala is an award-winning marketer who conceptualised the project ‘Stop the Project’ that cut across age groups and social entities and was powered by the top 184 sportsmen as brand ambassadors under the theme ‘Learning to live with COVID’.

Separately, over 400+ companies have been COVID-19 Control Certified by SLSI — an idea conceptualised by Rotary that now gives leadership to the Rotary Back to School campaign, a partnership with the Ministry of Education.

For the year 2020/21, Athukorala was the global winner of the Rotary International ‘People of Action’ Award, making him the first Sri Lankan to win this award in the 91-year history of Rotary in Sri Lanka.

Dr. Athukorala is the Country Head of an Artificial Intelligence( AI) company in Sri Lanka, The Maldives and Pakistan, and has a 20-year career spanning multiple top British multinationals — Reckitt Benckiser, Unilever, and DiverseyLever, where he has won multiple awards for brand marketing.

He is the only Sri Lankan to be appointed to drive the Sri Lanka brand as the Chairman of Sri Lanka Tourism and the Sri Lanka Export Development Board (EDB), which accounts for $ 20 billion in foreign exchange for the country. In 2019, he was awarded the BJP Abdul Kalam award for outstanding leadership in the public sector. He is an alumnus of Harvard University.
