Benchmark Innovation, a truly home grown advertising agency, was the proud winner of one of only two Effies at the Effie Awards Sri Lanka, a global award ceremony, organised by the Sri Lanka Institute of Marketing on behalf of the American Marketing Association. The Effie Awards recognises and rewards the most significant achievements in marketing communications in Sri Lanka in terms of its effectiveness and creativity and Benchmark Innovation was awarded a Silver for their campaign ‘Mango Kurutu Gee on Desks,’ for the recently launched ball point pen brand ‘Mango’ marketed by PrintXcel Ltd. At this year’s Effies which saw only 10 awards given away, a jury of marketing and advertising executives adjudged this campaign, one of the most effective of the year, based on its insight, creativity, execution and success in meeting and exceeding its marketing and sales goals. Speaking on this big win in its first year of participation Benchmark Innovation Managing Director Chamley Ariyachandra said: “Benchmark has a very simple philosophy which is ‘Simplicity,’ from marketing communications to living our own lives. We believe that the future belongs to the simpleminded. To those who are brave enough to stand for something, instead of everything and to those who believe innovation, creativity and leadership comes from solving complexity rather than creating it.” Benchmark Innovation, is a truly home grown advertising agency at heart, co-founded in 2010 by Chamley Ariyachandra, an entrepreneur and visionary with a dream of producing extraordinary work that inspires people. A believer in building leaders not followers, Chamley is a veteran with over 13 years of advertising and marketing experience, as the former Head of Activation for Ogilvy Action and Senior Manager – Marketing Activation for Bharati Airtel. He embarked on his journey with a small team, comprised of a set of young, passionate individuals with a burning desire to change the world, with no experience in advertising at all. Manuja Kelegama, the brand strategist at benchmark is a master mind when it comes to connecting the dots, while Anoj Prasad, with his ‘devil is in the details’ thinking will simplify the most complicated issues imaginable. Kasun Wijeratne has an eye for art and everything the rest of the team doesn’t see. Benchmark strongly believes in empowering regional communities through their island wide network through which they will continue to impart professional know-how and integrated communication services.
