Cargills Food City gives Rs. 22 million Avurudu Salli

Sri Lanka’s leading supermarket chain Cargills Food City, renowned for its innovative and exciting seasonal promotions, has unveiled yet another thrilling competition to celebrate the upcoming Sinhala and Tamil New Year. The Cargills Food City ‘Avurudu Salli’ promotion offers Rs. 22 million in cash to its customers to be won weekly.



More than 70,000 customers have a chance of winning instant spot cash prices up to Rs. 10,000 every day and a chance of winning Rs. 1 million weekly for a period of five weeks.

T.L. Asitha who shops at Cargills Food City Galle and Dilan Ranganath who is a customer of Cargills Food City Express Pugoda have walked away with grand prizes of Rs. 1 million each, while more than 30,000 other customers have already won instant cash prizes. Customers need to purchase three products from a selection of nominated brands with a minimum spend of Rs. 750 to stand a chance to win instant cash. “The New Year is all about new hopes and dreams. It is also a time when customers are on the lookout for the best bargains and promotions that will enable them to make the most of the money they spend.

“Furthermore, rewarding customers with instant cash, giving it to their hand over the counter, was another innovative step taken in this promotion,” explained Cargills (Ceylon) Retail Marketing Deputy General Manager Sanjeewa Fernando.

“The mechanism of the ‘Avurudu Salli’ promotion is all encompassing. Our nominated brands are amongst the most frequently purchased by our customers ensuring that every customer who shops at any Cargills Food City outlet has the opportunity to participate in the promotion and win big for the New Year,” Fernando said. The nominated brands are Signal, Sunlight, Dilmah, Dettol, Marina, Nestomalt, Flora, Johnson’s Baby, Ritzbury and Tiara,” he added.

Cargills Retail Chief Operating Officer Sidath Kodikara noted that the Company focuses on conducting its businesses in a manner that directly engages consumers.
