CBL honours excellence at Distributor Convention and Sales Star Awards

Ceylon Biscuits Limited (CBL), Sri Lanka’s prominent local food and confectionery conglomerates in Sri Lanka recently concluded their 2013/14 Annual Distributor Convention and Sales Star Awards ceremony, at the Eagle Lakeside Banquet and Conference Hall. The objective of this annual event was to evaluate and appreciate the contribution of the company’s field sales force and distributors towards the progress of the organisation during the previous financial year, recognising individuals who have been distributing CBL products for decades as well as their top sales performers. During the event CBL also announced their success in achieving impressive set sales targets, confirming the Group’s current strong financial position. The company acknowledged this growth due to the achievement and contribution of the entire workforce and star sales performers. Held under the patronage of CBL Chairman Mineka Wickeremasinghe, the colourful 2013/14 Annual Distributor Convention and Star Awards, was conducted amidst a large gathering including the Board of Directors, field sales personnel, distributors from various parts of the country, CBL Senior Managers and business partners. At the convention several product presentations showcasing CBL’s winning brands such as Munchee, Lanka Soy, Samaposha, Tiara and Ritsbury illustrated substantial growth during the previous financial year. Throughout the ensuing financial year, CBL has maintained its undisputed leadership position in the Sri Lanka biscuits industry through the strong leadership positions in Crackers, Marie and Lemon Puff categories. Moreover, Munchee continues to reign as the most sought after product range delighting customers. Achievement of these accolades was also highlighted during the awards ceremony. A highlight of the event was honouring longstanding island-wide distributors for their partnership with the Group. The contribution towards CBL’s success in achieving set sales targets for the financial year 2013/14 was also recognised through the admirable contribution done by the Junior and Senior Sales Force. Madampe Territory Sales Officer for Munchee biscuits, Rizvy Bernard Fernando from Range B won the prestigious CBL Sales Star award for the highest overall performance as  the most outstanding Territory Sales Officer. Amith Dissanayake, the Piliyandala Territory Sales Officer for Ritzbury and Tiara won the range A outstanding star award. Rathnapura Territory Sales officer Tharindu Dilshan won the senior star award of the C range which handles Lankasoy and samaposha sales, for his excellent performance. Junior Territory Sales Officer Aloka Gayan Sansirige of Matara from range C bagged the Junior Star Award, recording the best performance in the Junior Territory Sales Officers category of all three ranges. According to CBL ethos it is customary for the Marketing and Sales Team to declare a theme for every financial year. Consequently, the event witnessed the launching of their new theme titled ‘The Game changer – It is a new beginning’. As in previous years the Sales and Marketing Force pledged to work committedly in achieving future corporate objectives. Based on the unveiled theme, the Sales and Marketing teams outlined their plans to support the objectives of the Group as well as achieve their targets. Noteworthy was the launch of a host of new Munchee, Lanka Soy, Samaposha and Ritzbury products soon to be introduced in the local market. The Team also reaffirmed their commitment to this new range as well as other product ranges and aim to continue to retain its market leadership position. Speaking on the occasion, Group Director and Head of Marketing and Sales Nandana Wickramage said, “Through CBL we have guaranteed the success of many individuals and this is truly encouraging. Through our Distributor and Sales Star Awards we provide the tools of evaluation for our sales force to face many challenges and through self-belief and innovation bring to market new products. As an organisation we do not merely seek profitability but are proud to have a workforce keen to contribute towards the growth and sustenance of the country.” “Our committed work force work tirelessly and even during their leisure concentrate towards supporting society and not only through words but through concrete action have demonstrated this,” he added. During the CBL Annual Distributor Convention and Star Awards Ceremony, Wickramage also highlighted Munchee’s Corporate Social Responsibility programs which captured the attention of all those present. Providing testimony on the benefits of the ‘Munchee Tikiri Shishyadara Students Assistance Programme’, present at the Awards Ceremony to express their gratitude were several students who have received scholarships for their education. Heartwarming was also the presence and presentation of a Management trainee who was previously a scholarship holder prior to joining CBL.
