The Chartered Institute of Marketing (CIM) Sri Lanka announced the appointment of the Board for 2016, at the 20th Annual General Meeting which took place on 16 December 2015, at the Galadari Hotel, Colombo.
Serendib Leisure Management Ltd. Director of Business Development and Projects Sanjika Perera will continue his tenure as the Chairman of CIM Sri Lanka, whilst GlaxoSmithKline Managing Director Stuart Chapman will continue his term as Honorary President of the Institute.
The Honorary President chaired the Annual General Meeting and invited the Chairman, Sanjika Perera to present the annual review of activities for the year 2014-2015.
“Significant progress has been made in the year under review, with many key initiatives being implemented by the Institute,” CIM Sri Lanka Chairman Sanjika Perera said.
“Unfolding the strategy for 2016, our focus will be on five key areas namely, Education, Membership, Knowledge hub, Corporate Communications and Networking and Fellowship,” he said.
Speaking further Sanjika said, “Increasing student membership by strengthening the CIM value proposition, sharing knowledge, providing networking opportunities and supporting Sri Lankan industries by reactivating Market Interest Groups will be a few of our focus areas.” He also emphasised on the initiatives that will be taken to promote certificate level qualification for corporates and promote corporate trainings.
“With the continuous support and the contribution of the board members, CIM Sri Lanka can reach greater heights by building its membership to become the most sought after professional qualification in marketing.”
The members of the Board for 2016 include Sanjika Perera (Director of Business Development and Projects, Serendib Leisure Management Ltd.) as Chairman, Shantha Katipearachchi (Consultant/ Trainer – E.B. Creasy Group of Companies) as Immediate Past Chairman, Brian Selvanayagam (Country Head, The Chartered Institute for Securities and Investment Sri Lanka) as Vice Chairman, Amal Fernando (Head of Operations, Triumph International) as Honorary Secretary, Sujith Silva (Managing Director, Inspire one) as Treasurer and Chris Daly (Acting CEO, Chartered Institute of Marketing UK) as Nominee – CIM UK.
Rest of the Board members include Sumudu Thanthirigoda (General Manager – Sales and Marketing, ACL Cables PLC) Charaka Perera (Director – Stafford Motor Company Ltd.), Rajiv David (Marketing Manager – Union Bank PLC), Dilini Rathnayake (Brand Manager, Ceylinco Life), Roshan Kaluarachchi (Chief Business Strategies Officer, Subsidiary companies of Sri Lanka Telecom PLC) Dayan Fernando (Management Consultant/Corporate Trainer).
