CIM Sri Lanka Region holds Open Day

The CIM Sri Lanka Region opened its doors to their student members recently by giving them the opportunity to discover what it takes to be a top marketer in Sri Lanka. The participants were also provided with the opportunity to realise the path towards a brilliant career in marketing at the Annual Open Day organised by The Chartered Institute of Marketing (CIM) Sri Lanka Region held at the Regional office in Colombo.

Student members participated in an interactive session with renowned academics and head-hunters; content of the CIM syllabus, the skill set required, job market and opportunities, how to differentiate themselves, remuneration packages and success stories were discussed in detail. Further, the participants were briefed about the new syllabus and benefits of the qualification. The new syllabus offers a level seven qualification whereas MBA is a level eight qualification. CIM qualification enables marketers to champion the customer experience and exert a strong influence on the organisation to adopt a customer orientated approach. The qualification will also enable students to contribute to the organisation’s competitive strategy and manage the organisation’s marketing activities in line with the business goals.

Four eminent lecturers were present at the event, namely Asia Pacific Brewery (Lanka) Limited Chief Operating Officer and Next Business School founder Dusty Allahakoon, Pan Audio Private Limited Marketing Director and Sri Lanka Institute of Marketing Senior Lecturer G.S. Sylvester, Synergy School of Marketing Director/Senior Lecturer Micheal Ranasinghe and NDB Bank Assistant Vice President – Head of branch Strategy and Sales and Strategy College founder Yasas Hewage.

Job Factory Chief Executive Officer and Principal Consultant Madushan Raigamge and Kaizen Plus SkD (Pvt.) Ltd. Director Dallas Joshua were key head-hunters present at the event.

Speaking at the Open Day, CIM Sri Lanka Region Head of Education Amal Fernando stated: “Our students have got immense talent and we are here to nurture it. From the moment they start their studies at CIM, they will be taught and guided by dedicated and passionate academics. CIM will inevitably create an array of opportunities to our students not only in Sri Lanka, but anywhere in the world.”
