As per the global results released on 26 February, The Chartered Institute of Marketing Sri Lanka Region, once again created history by achieving an overall pass rate of 58.3% at the examinations held in December 2012. Sri Lanka has been placed second in the world, surpassing Singapore, Hong Kong, Malaysia, Ghana and Kenya with UK topping the list at the number one position.
Chairperson of The Chartered Institute of Marketing Sri Lanka Region Nadi Dharmasiri commenting on the results said: “Our pass rates have grown steadily in the past few years and we are confident of continuing this positive trend. The CIM Sri Lanka Region is proud to have world class tutors and we acknowledge their hard work and dedication.”
She added: “The content of the qualification has evolved to suit the trends of the business world and CIM today is more a professional business qualification that includes marketing management and not just specialises in marketing in isolation.”
The CIM Sri Lanka Region Head of Education Amal Fernando commented: “We are indeed proud of the outstanding achievement and pleased to note that the number of students who succeed at every stage have increased rapidly. Maintaining an excellent pass rate over the years has proved that students finish their studies with a comprehensive understanding of the subjects. It is also a testament to high standard of our accredited study centres and tutors, who have contributed towards maintaining high pass rates and guiding Sri Lankan students to become professional marketers.”
The CIM syllabus is constantly reviewed and revised and the current syllabus is designed to provide the students with the core skills and knowledge required to excel during their career path. The value of the qualification is manifested by the fact that it is now taken by non-marketers. A significant number of requests from parents and students to make the qualification open to students who are in non-commerce streams in Advanced Level have been accepted by The CIM UK. The CIM Sri Lanka Region, therefore, will launch the entry level program in the near future enabling students of any discipline to not only gain business and marketing knowledge, but also secure an internationally recognised certificate from The CIM UK. The Institute is confident that this initiative will improve the business acumen of Sri Lanka’s future generation.CIM is an international qualification recognized by a Royal Charter in UK and is at level 7 (QAA UK), where an independent and eminent panel of examiners in the UK assesses assignments and exams. Further, the study centres are subject to continuous audits by CIM UK, thereby ensuring consistent standards.
The Chartered Institute of Marketing (CIM) UK is the world’s largest professional body for marketing, represented locally by The CIM Sri Lanka Region.
