CIM ‘Talking Point’ on marketing Sri Lanka via CHOGM today

The Chartered Institute of Marketing Sri Lanka Region will host a ‘Talking Point’ Program on ‘CHOGM: An opportunity to Market Sri Lanka?’ on 23 October 2013 from 6 p.m. onwards at the Earls Court, Cinnamon Lakeside, Colombo. Deputy Minister of External Affairs will be the main speaker whilst seven eminent business professionals will share their insights on how CHOGM can help benefit an organisation, brand and business. As a professional institute CIM places great emphasis in bringing together programs that are topical and relevant, targeting the members and the business community. With CHOGM being one of the flagship global business events, CIM Sri Lanka region hosts the upcoming CIM Talking Point with the objective of outlining the gust of opportunities that CHOGM could bring into an organisation and how the Sri Lankan economy could develop and benefit from CHOGM by focusing on key business sectors. Neomal Perera is the Deputy Minister of External Affairs and the Chairman of CHOGM Business Forum (CBF) 2013, Colombo. CBF will take place in Colombo from 12 to 14 November 2013 in conjunction with the Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting (CHOGM). The Forum is the premier business event in the Commonwealth bringing together Heads of Government, Ministers and top business leaders from around the world and will be attended by over a thousand delegates. This forum will provide a valuable opportunity for high level dialogue on trade and investment between business and government leaders from the Commonwealth and beyond. Neomal Perera is the Chairman of the National Steering Committee ‘Ministry of External Affairs – United Nations POST 2015 Development Agenda Consultations’. Prior to his appointment as the Deputy Minister of External Affairs he held positions as Deputy Minister of Co-operatives and Internal Trade and Deputy Minister of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources in Sri Lanka. Educated at St. Joseph’s College in Colombo and Kodikanal International School, Kodikanal, India; Perera holds a Diploma in Business Management at the National Institute of Business Management (NIBM) Sri Lanka, Diploma in Human Rights at the University of Colombo and has followed a course in ‘Conflict Resolution’ at the Stanford University, United Kingdom. He entered into politics in 1983 and has made significant achievements throughout his political career over the past two decades. United Nations Office for Project Services (UNOPS) Head of National Portfolio Development Sri Lanka and Maldives Rohantha Athukorala will be the Panel Discussion Chair, whilst Jetwings Hotels Limited Chairman Hiran Cooray, Ceylon Tea Board Chairperson Janaki Kuruppu, Sri Lanka Telecom PLC Group CEO Lalith De Silva, Sri Lanka Export Development Board Chairman and Chief Executive Bandula Egodage, Sri Lanka Apparel Exporters Association Chairman Yohan Lawrence and Grant McCann Erickson Chairperson Neela Marikkar will be the panellists on board.
