CIM Toastmasters Club conducts fifth club officer installation

The CIM Toastmasters Club conducted its 5th club officer installation ceremony on 2 August at the Kingsbury Hotel. Several distinguished invitees from the Chartered Institute of Marketing (CIM) and the Toastmasters fraternity were present to celebrate the occasion. This included the Chief Guest of the evening, Distinguished Toastmaster and Regional Director – Toastmasters International, Arunasalam Balraj and the Guest of Honour, CIM Sri Lanka Region Chairperson Nadi Dharmasiri. Division ‘A’ Governor, Toastmaster Niroshan Nadarajah was also present. The club officer installation was conducted by Toastmaster and Past Area Governor Area A3 Toastmasters International Keith J. De Silva. The elected office bearers for the Toastmaster year 2013/2014 are Menaka Sheham Ramiz (President); Rangani Upasena (Vice President Education), Mafaz M. Ifharm (Vice President Membership), Ayesha Ratnayake (Vice President Public Relations), Anupama Wijayasinghe (Treasurer), Revon Ferdinands (Secretary), Oshan Liyanage (Sergeant-at-Arms) and Pius Paiva  (Immediate Past President). The evening also saw the recognition of the Speechcraft facilitators who assisted the club in conducting its third Speechcraft session to assist the MAS Group team in enhancing communication and leadership skills. The evening was enhanced with a toasting for the incoming committee followed by a cocktail. When the Chartered Institute of Marketing Sri Lanka Region launched its Toastmasters Club in April 2009, it was the first international branch in the history of the Chartered Institute of Marketing - United Kingdom to launch a Toastmasters Club. Moreover, in its very first year, the club achieved ‘Distinguished Club’ status, under the leadership of Charter President Toastmaster Dayan D. L. Fernando. Since then, CIM Toastmasters Club has completed four remarkable years in its journey. The club is entering its fifth year with a new vision ‘Leaders Making Leaders’, a testament to its endeavour to provide a platform for its members to hone their communication and leadership skills.
