Two members of the AkzoNobel Paints Lanka Ltd. Sales Team were recognised at NASCO 2014 amidst a record number of entries received by the competition to date. The winners, Indika Chandrawansa and Upali Ratnayake, were awarded at a festive ceremony celebrating Sri Lanka’s sales force at Water’s Edge recently. Chandrawansa won the Silver medal in the Front Line Sales category whilst Ratnayake took Bronze in the Territory Manager category.  AkzoNobel owns Dulux, the leading paint brand in Sri Lanka and worldwide. Attributing his team’s success to AkzoNobel’s core values, Priya de Mel, National Sales Manager, commented, “AkzoNobel’s guiding principles are an inherent part of every individual across our global operation.  These fundamental values embrace four key elements: Customer Focus, Delivery on Commitments, Passion for Excellence, and Winning Together. Nothing is taken for granted in our pursuit for excellence. While we do not believe in reinventing the wheel, we also look internally and externally to determine the definition of ‘best’. Improvements are embraced and best practices are always transferred. “Above all, it is our unified approach that has been instrumental to success on the macro level.  Simple philosophies such as giving and asking for honest feedback helps drive outstanding team performance. Accepting and appreciating differences in people, be it in gender, nationality or lifestyle helps us keep an open mind on every angle,” de Mel added. Silver medal winner Indika Chandrawansa has been a part of the AkzoNobel family for six years and has been an outstanding member of the sales team. Upali Ratnayake’s Bronze medal comes seven years after he joined the Sales team of the paint and coatings giant. The AkzoNobel sales team is no newcomer to the NASCO Awards stage, with medals being won by its members for three years running. Dedicated to recognising the efforts and performance of Sales Personnel in Sri Lanka, NASCO Awards is the only national level event to recognise and reward the Sales Force of Sri Lanka.  It is a Sri Lanka Institute of Marketing (SLIM) initiative and has taken place for 14 consecutive years. Winners were awarded after a rigorous selection process involving a written exam and interviews. AkzoNobel Paints is a Global Fortune 500 Company and the world’s largest manufacturer of paints and coatings.
