Fashion Bug, one of Sri Lanka’s largest retail clothing chains, was recognised as a Platinum Dealer of Rainco at the Rainco Platinum Award Ceremony which was held at the Grand Ballroom of the Colombo Hilton. The theme of the event was ‘Agayamu 2015, Platinum Dealer Awards’.

The award was accepted on behalf of Fashion Bug by its Director Shabier Subian.

“Fashion Bug is indebted to our loyal customers who have patronised us over the years and are the reason for our success. “We also recognise our staff on this occasion, who have stood by us and are the cornerstone of our growth and expansion,” said Subian.

Fashion Bug have been in the apparel industry for more than 21 years now and have been the recipients of many awards during the past decade, the most recent being ‘Best Key Account Partner’ at the recent Annual Sales Conference of Triumph International .

The company is also the proud recipient of the International Star Award for Quality which is one of the most sought after accolades in the realm of business and quality management worldwide, presented by the Business Initiative Directions, Geneva, Switzerland.

Fashion Bug was founded in 1994 in Bandarawela with a seven-member team, the first shop being a mere 500 square feet in Bandarawela town. The brainchild of Founders Rizal and Ashan Subian and A.C.M. Thariq, today it has evolved into a household brand that boasts of 16 outlets island-wide. Fashion Bug currently numbers over 1,250 Sri Lankan men and women amongst its staff, who hail from diverse backgrounds and ethnicities; hence they constitute a truly Sri Lankan corporate entity. An equal opportunity employer, Fashion Bug prides itself on the fact that they invest in their employees, which they believe is a key to their success. Very high on the company’s list of priorities is the preservation of racial and ethnic harmony and unity which is evidenced by the fact that all communities and religions work side by side at Fashion Bug’s outlets and factories.

All showrooms currently stock ladies, gents and children’s clothing, as well as household linen. Both Eastern as well as Western wear is on sale, while a range of designer sarees, kurthis and salwars, together with accessories, handbags, shoes, etc in a range of designs and colours to suit all tastes are available.

“In addition to the array of  our very own brands such as Givo, Posh, Hush, Jobbs, Bigg Boss, Rock Star and Bug Junior, Fashion Bug also features international brands such as Levis, Crocodile, Amante and Triumph in our showrooms,” said Subian.

In fact Fashion Bug was the first clothing retailer of magnitude to mark its presence in the South when they opened their 17th branch in Matara in March 2013 marking a significant milestone for Fashion Bug as well as Southern Sri Lanka.

Other than the 1,250 employees who are currently on the payroll, Fashion Bug sustains over 2,000 Sri Lankan men and women via the supplier chain that manufactures their own brands. “Some of our suppliers who have been with us since inception have grown from SMEs to large factories side by side with us, and we take pride in their success,” said Subian.
