Firzan Mulafer, Director Client Services at Publicis Solutions Sri Lanka, has been selected to serve on the highly respected jury of the Spikes Asia Festival of Creativity 2015. The festival is set to take place in Singapore this September and is acknowledged as the region’s oldest and most respected awards show for celebrating creativity in the marketing communications industry.

The festival recognises the best work from across the region, in a variety of categories including Film, Print, Outdoor, Radio, Digital, Direct, Promo and Activations, Media, Design, Poster Craft, Integrated, Mobile and PR. A collaboration between the organisers of the Cannes Lions Festival and Haymarket, the Spikes Asia Festival also provides the region’s growing creative and advertising industry with a platform to network, exchange ideas and think creatively.

Commenting on his nomination as a jury member, Mulafer, Managing Director, Leo Burnett (LBSI), stated: “Publicis is a relatively new brand in the marketing communications industry in Sri Lanka. Therefore, being invited to serve on a prestigious jury is a special honour for both Publicis and myself.”

In 2014 Firzan returned to Sri Lanka to head the team at Publicis Worldwide’s outpost in Sri Lanka. His 12 plus years in the advertising industry together with his analytical, precise and penetrative insights have enabled him to gain the respect of leading global clients like Nestle and American Express. In just two years he has nearly doubled the agency’s size.

A client once himself, Firzan managed a successful portfolio of male grooming products at Hemas, after having gained vast FMCG experience at JWT, where he was hailed as the ‘Account Management Person of the Year’. He then joined Leo Burnett’s integrated arm Arc where his incisiveness and deep-rooted local knowledge delighted several clients on numerous campaigns.

In 2011 he was posted to Leo Burnett’s Bangkok office where he was responsible for engagement planning activities for P&G ASEAN. He also functioned as the planner for Twinings in the U.K. for the ASEAN region. He also had the honour of being Sri Lanka’s first Young Lion to represent the country at the Young Lions TV competition at the Cannes Lions International Festival of Creativity.

Firzan holds an MBA from the University of Sri Jayawardenapura Sri Lanka and a Postgraduate Diploma in Marketing from the Chartered Institute of Marketing, UK.
