Five eminent marketers felicitated by CIM

The recently-concluded Graduation Ceremony, Chartered Marketer and Membership Investiture of The Chartered Institute of Marketing Sri Lanka Region conferred five leading marketers with the fellowship status at Waters Edge, Battaramulla. The Honorary President, Dr. Rohan Fernando and Chairperson, Nadi Dharmasiri of the Chartered Institute of Marketing Sri Lanka Region graced the occasion, whilst Anne Godfrey, the Chief Executive of The Chartered Institute of Marketing UK, attended as the Guest of Honour. Membership grades are awarded on a combination of experience and qualifications. Fellowship (FCIM) is awarded to marketers with a strong marketing background, having held a top management position in marketing with at least 15 years of experience. Five eminent marketers who have contributed greatly towards the professional excellence in marketing were inducted this year adding them to list of the leading marketers within the marketing fraternity. Chitrangani Herat Gunaratne – Senior Vice President of Quantum Consumer Solutions holds a Master of Business Administration from the University of Southern Queensland, a Postgraduate Diploma in Marketing from the Chartered Institute of Marketing UK and is a Chartered Marketer. Counts over 25 years of working experience in diverse fields. She commenced her career at the Hatton National Bank and thereafter moved to marketing at the Associated Newspapers of Ceylon Ltd. and retail marketing at Arpico. She held the positions of Deputy General Manager Operations at Cargills and Chief Executive Officer of Alpha Industries prior to moving to research. She has been an active member of CIM Sri Lanka Region since 2003; holding many Board positions and finally was appointed the  Chairperson of CIM Sri Lanka Region in the years 2011 and 2012. Roshan Kaluarachchi – Chief Marketing Officer of Sri Lanka Telecom PLC, holds a Master in Business Studies from the University of Colombo, a Postgraduate Diploma in Marketing from the Chartered Institute of Marketing UK and is a Chartered Marketer. He is also a member of The Sri Lanka Institute of Marketing. Kaluarachchi is a veteran in the field of marketing with over 19 years of practice in the entire spectrum of marketing and sales management in both multinational and blue chip companies in Sri Lanka. He has exposure in marketing communications, distribution channel development and management, product development and management, market activation, market research, contact centre operations, brand management and sales. He has cross industry experience covering FMCG, consumer durables, telecommunications both fixed and mobile in Sri Lanka. Niroshini Pethiyagoda – Deputy General Manager Marketing of Sri Lanka Insurance, holds a Master of Business Administration from Macquarie Graduate School of Management (Sydney), a Postgraduate Diploma in Marketing from the Chartered Institute of Marketing UK and is a Chartered Marketer. She is an accomplished marketing professional having worked across varied industries in both public and private sector enterprises.  Formerly she worked as National Marketing Manager for Thompson Lawpoint – a leading Australian legal service provider. Tharaka Ranwala – Deputy General Manager Marketing and Business Development of Sampath Bank holds a Postgraduate Diploma in Marketing from the Chartered Institute of Marketing UK, a Chartered Marketer and a Certified Professional Marketer of the Asia Pacific Marketing Federation. He is the Vice President of the International Advertising Association (IAA) Sri Lanka; the recipient of the General Manager’s award for most outstanding performance in 2005  at DFCC Bank and  the Brand Leadership Award at the Global Brand Forum in Mumbai in 2008.  He became the youngest to hold a Corporate Management position in the banking industry of the country. Dr. Ranjan Saheed – Senior Management Consultant, Lecturer and Faculty Dean of Aquinas University College hold a BA (Hons), a graduate from Sri Jayewardenepura University Sri Lanka. He holds a Postgraduate Diploma in Marketing from the Chartered Institute of Marketing UK and a Chartered Marketer. He is also a Certified Professional Marketing practitioner. He has been awarded Honorary Doctoral status by the National Honorary Graduation Institute. He had served many leading organisations in the capacity of marketing and management consultant. Nadi Dharmasiri, Chairperson of the Sri Lanka Region, commented: “Fellowship status is awarded to industry professionals who have contributed immensely towards the marketing profession and also for their longstanding service in marketing. The regional institute has always campaigned for greater recognition and excellence in the marketing profession in Sri Lanka, through education, training and development.
