Former Sri Lankan journalist turned public relations professional Anosh Ahamath has opened his own public relations agency in the United Arab Emirates.

His agency Right Relations is a PR consultancy that offers flexible, proactive and creative solutions to help build and enhance brand image and reputation.

Right Relations (www.rightrelations.com) provides a range of services including strategic counselling, corporate communications, leadership profiling and media relations.

Ahamath moved into public relations in 2000 after a 19-year career in journalism. Since then, he has been specialising in the field of retail, real estate and financial services, advising local and international brands on the public relations component of their marketing communications programme.

Beginning his public relations career as an Account Manager, Ahamath rose to the rank of Vice President during stints at two leading marketing communications agencies in Dubai, that are a part of the WPP Group, one of the world’s largest communications services groups.

As regional economies begin to recover from the recession, the importance of public relations has assumed greater significance in the implementation of corporate and marketing communications programmes.

In view of the evolving business climate, and based on the demand for PR services in the UAE and Middle East, Right Relations is offering Sri Lankan companies the opportunity to generate a greater share of voice in the UAE and Middle East markets.

“With the corporate hangover from the economic downturn certain to stay for a while, companies have been re-visiting their marketing communications roadmap, even as they adopt a fast-track approach towards transforming their business strategies and models.  In the current situation, public relations can play a crucial role, and has proven to be a match-winner for marketers, as it is  credible, and more importantly, cost-effective,” said Ahamath.

During his journalism career, Ahamath has had extensive experience covering diverse areas including trade, tourism, airline industry, civil conflicts, intellectual property, environment and sports.

He has worked for the international news agency AFP in both Colombo and Kabul, and leading newspapers in Sri Lanka, the Maldives, Oman and the UAE. He can be contacted at [email protected].
