The Sri Lanka Institute of Marketing (SLIM) recently elected a new Executive Committee and a Council led by Etisalat Lanka Ltd., Senior Manager Marketing (Postpaid and Broadband) Gamika De Silva for the year 2013/14.
SLIM members gathered at Cinnamon Lakeside for the 43rd SLIM Annual General Meeting, which was eagerly attended. As the new SLIM President, De Silva assured the members that the new Committee and Council will work towards achieving the objectives of SLIM. “My objective is to consolidate and reinvent to ensure that we achieve greater and more sustainable results. My intention is to add value to all the stakeholders and spheres including members, students, government, the general public, the marketing fraternity and the staff of SLIM.”
He added: “I am deeply honoured to head the national body for marketing in Sri Lanka. Our Institute has reached greater heights with a rich history over 40 years, the new Executive Committee and Council comprised of professionals representing diverse fields , hence they will be effective in achieving SLIM’s overall objectives and introducing new concepts to drive SLIM towards better results.” Sri Lanka Institute of Marketing (SLIM) founded in 1970 (then called Ceylon Institute of Marketing) with the view of harnessing the available skills in marketing for the growth and development of the profession, was subsequently incorporated by Act no 41 of 1980 of the Parliament of the Democratic Socialist Republic of Sri Lanka. SLIM is a Member of the Asia Marketing Federation (AMF) and the World Marketing Association (WMA).
