A well respected professional, Dr. Hermawan Kartajaya from Indonesia was on a visit to Sri Lanka Institute of Marketing (SLIM) the national body of marketing in Sri Lanka.
The Indonesian author and public speaker in marketing studies, who co-authored several books with the worlds marketing guru Professor Philip Kotler, met with SLIM Council members and past presidents and discussed matters of mutual interest.
“SLIM is probably the best organised national marketing association that I have ever come across,” said Dr. Kartajaya. He was very pleased with the work that SLIM does and impressed with the facilities at SLIM Home including the VIP Lounge.
Dr. Kartajaya is a Honorary Fellow of SLIM along with Prof. Philip Kotler, Prof. Uditha Liyanage and Lalith Weeratunga
Dr. Kartajaya co-authored ‘Repositioning Asia: From Bubble to Sustainable Economy’ with Professor Philip Kotlerin 2000, where they analysed why the Asian crisis of 1997 occurred and outlined what the governments and companies of the region could do to develop more sustainability in the future. 2002 saw him teaming up with Kotler again in authoring ‘Rethinking Marketing: Sustainable Marketing Enterprise’.
“Dr Kartajaya’s expert analysis, in-depth knowledge, and strategic thinking, won him acclaim from many of his peers,” SLIM President Tilan Wijeyesekera said. “It was indeed an honour to receive Dr. Kartajaya for the first time at SLIM Home. Dr. Kartajaya as an honorary fellow member of SLIM, adds great deal of value to our membership and is an inspiration to the Sri Lankan marketing fraternity,” said SLIM CEO/Executive Director Sanath Senanayake.
Sri Lanka Institute of Marketing (SLIM) founded in 1970 (then called Ceylon Institute of Marketing) with the view to harness the available skills in marketing for the growth and development of the profession, was subsequently incorporated by Act no 41 of 1980 of the Parliament of the Democratic Socialist Republic of Sri Lanka.
