Advertising expenditure in both India and China are forecast to grow double digits this year at 14 per cent and 11.5 per cent, respectively, according to market research firm Warc’s International Ad Forecast.

Japan’s 2012 ad spend is expected to grow by 2.5 per cent and Australia’s by 3.5 per cent.

The report by Warc, which covers 12 countries, expects the BRIC countries to record the strongest ad spend growth in 2012 led by Russia (16.5 per cent) and trailed by Brazil (8.5 per cent).

The eurozone debt crisis is expected to push the region back and Germany, France and Italy will likely record the worst year-on-year performances of the markets surveyed.

“If we take into account predicted inflation, all three countries are likely to see a decline in advertising spend in 2012,” the study authors reported, adding that this includes the expected boost from the London Olympics and the European football championships.
