Veteran ad industry personality Chandini Rajaratnam, Chief Creative Officer/Vice President of JWT Colombo, represented Sri Lanka as a jury member at ‘Spikes Asia Festival of Creativity 2014’ held in Singapore recently. Chandini, better known as “C” within the industry, was the only jury member from Sri Lanka and the overall JWT group at this prestigious festival, where creative representations are submitted by a host of agencies across many Asia Pacific countries. According to festival organisers, this year saw the highest number of entries, running up to 4,984 representing creative categories such as Branded Content & Entertainment, Creative Effectiveness, Design, Digital, Direct, Film, Film Craft, Healthcare, Innovation, Integrated, Media, Mobile, Outdoor, PR, Print, Print & Poster Craft, Promo & Activation and Radio. C was invited to be in the panel of judges for ‘Craft’ category that encapsulated Film, Print & Poster categories which drew 564 entries across many creative agencies in Asia Pacific region. Discussing her participation and experience as a jury member at this year’s Spikes, C said: “Work from Asia has a strong presence in all the global festivals and Spikes is an acknowledgement of that. Being on the jury alongside six others, each from a different country bringing different expertise, experience and knowledge saw interesting discussions and debate through the sessions.” In addition to her Spikes jury duties, C has also been a judge at SLIM Advertising awards, Reggie Can-dappa Creative Awards and MAS Go Beyond awards several times.  In total, 90 jury members met in Singapore to judge entries from across Asia Pacific and decided which are groundbreaking enough to receive trophies. Alongside the awards, the four-day Festival, filled with non-stop content, networking and learning, was designed to rejuvenate and inspire delegates, whilst particular focus was given to nurturing aspiring talent through the Young Spikes competitions and academic sessions.
