Munchee wins dual honours at Students Brand Award Ceremony 2013

Munchee succeeded in securing the Student Brand of the Year, the highest evaluation award amongst students conferred at the D.S. Students Brand Award Ceremony 2013 organised by the D.S. Senanayake College Commerce Society in celebration of the College’s Commerce Day.
Twenty four reputed Sri Lankan brands from multiple categories were chosen by the students. Munchee received the highest recognition among the student community with being selected the Brand of the Year. In addition, Munchee also secured the Student Food Brand of the Year award.
Held recently, the Brand Ceremony 2013 was held at the Bandaranaike Memorial International Conference Hall (BMICH). The Chief Guest on the occasion was the Minister of Education, Bandula Gunewardene. Surpassing all previous traditional celebrations for school commerce days, the event was organised in a creative manner. Moreover, this was as the first time ever a business award presentation ceremony was held with the full participation of the student community.
According to the D.S. Senanayake Commerce Society, the results were from a survey they conducted targeting G.C.E. Advanced Level students from the Western Province. 24 brands under multiple categories were subjected to evaluation and nearly 10,000 students of the Western Province participated in this survey.
Among the award categories; the Student Bank of the Year, The Student Information Technology Company, Student Insurance Company, Student Finance Company, Student Vocational Institute and Student Education Institute were evaluated.
Carried out on the lines of scientific methodology, the formulation of the questionnaires, picking up of the specimens, accumulation of data and the data analysis was completed with the participation of students.
The College’s Commerce Society wholeheartedly pays tribute to the college Principal, the school teaching staff and the Chartered Accountancy Institute who assisted them in numerous ways.
Commenting on Munchee’s victory at the Student Brand Award Ceremony 2013, Munchee General Manager Theja Peiris said: “Munchee products are produced driven by the noble social mission of providing a brand of nourishing biscuits to students. They have become the most popular brand of biscuits among students over a period of four decades due to several reasons. Amongst them the Munchee Tikiri Students Assistance Program which is the key factor that has greatly contributed to the popularity of Munchee Brand among the students.
“In addition, fulfilling social requirement on many occasions by reaching out to areas deserving attention devoid of commercial motive must have undoubtedly inspired the students mind. My impression is that these factors have greatly influenced them to pick up Munchee as the frontline brand out of the 23 other major domestic brands. Therefore I would undisputedly say that this price of evaluation is not the second to all other awards we have been presented with before,” she added.
On Munchee’s Superior Brand status she said: “The fact that being able to endow a multitude brand of biscuits to society has continued to immortalise its presence from generation to generation.”
