Over 100 new marketers to drive Sri Lankan business world

The Chartered Institute of Marketing Sri Lanka Region Graduation Ceremony and Membership Investiture 2014 felicitates Sri Lankan prize winners, members and CIM lecturers
The Graduation Ceremony and Membership Investiture of The Chartered Institute of Marketing Sri Lanka Region (CIMSLR) concluded successfully recently at The Kingsbury, Colombo.
Ninety six marketers who completed their Postgraduate Diploma in Marketing in 2013 graduated at the event, whilst three Best Stage and 20 Sri Lankan Subject Award Winners were also felicitated. T. Thomas and S. De Silva won the Sri Lankan Best stage for the Professional Certificate in Marketing and A. Dalpadado for the Professional Diploma in Marketing.
Prof. A.K.W. Jayawardane, Vice Chancellor, University of Moratuwa graced the ceremony and as the Guest of Honour.
Forty three new members (MCIM) were inducted at the ceremony. Additionally, the Chartered Institute of Marketing Sri Lanka Region (CIMSLR) felicitated their senior lecturers in appreciation of their valuable contribution over the years towards marketing education and the development of outstanding students to professional marketers. Mohamed Adamaly, Rohantha Athukorala, Prasanna Perera and G.S. Sylvester were felicitated for their outstanding service of 20 years, whilst Dusty Alahakoon and Michael Ranasinghe for 15 years, and Lewie Diasz, Wasantha Fernando, Tharanga Gunasekera, Wahish Hashim, Yasas Hewage, Reyaz Jeffrey and Yarthav Mathiaparanam for 10 years of service.
Speaking at the ceremony, Shantha Katipearachchi, Chairman of The Chartered Institute of Marketing Sri Lanka Region said: “I take this opportunity in congratulating all graduates, prize winners and new members. It is indeed a joyous occasion to CIM Sri Lanka Region to have witnessed this ceremony unfold for the 22nd successive year. Gaining an international qualification from the Chartered Institute of Marketing is an achievement to our young graduates as it represents a high level of attainment in both academic and practitioner standards. It is evidence of their professionalism in the field of marketing. The institute’s qualifications are internationally recognised and will give our members legitimacy wherever they go.”
Producing business leaders
Commenting, Amal Fernando, Head of Education, the Charted Institute of Marketing Sri Lanka Region said: “On this memorable occasion, firstly, I congratulate each of our graduates who were conferred. This certainly is an achievement to be proud of as it represents the most prestigious marketing qualification in the world. The Chartered Institute of Marketing believes in producing business leaders with a sense of responsibility in their minds so that future marketers will not only be responsible marketers but also responsible citizens. Therefore, the graduates who are conferred with the qualification from CIM can be proud ambassadors of the discipline of professional and responsible marketing.”

CIM Sri Lanka Region will continue its stance to assist our members to take their profession to greater heights through knowledge, skills development and networking within the marketing fraternity. I congratulate all the members inducted today and request our members to make use of the wealth of knowledge, services and facilities extended by the Chartered Institute of Marketing to keep themselves one step ahead in this fast changing corporate world.”
