The CCC conducted the organisational greenhouse gas assessment for PR Wire to assess the Greenhouse Gas (GHG) emissions arising from its operational activities. This GHG assessment was based on the WBCSD/WRI GHG Protocol, which is also compliant with the Carbon Disclosure Project. Commenting on the occasion, Carbon Consulting Company CEO Sanith de S. Wijeyeratne stated: “There is no doubt that climate change is making significant impact globally. It is great to see that countries and companies across the globe are taking positive steps towards reducing emissions and also going a step further by adopting standardised procedures to offset the impacts of unavoidable emissions in their day-to-day operations. We are indeed proud to be a part of the PR Wire’s landmark initiative of becoming the country’s first carbon neutral independent PR agency. The company process and sustainability will build in greater value for its services offered and transferring this value offering to its clients’ supplier chain is another key achievement.” Speaking about the achievement, PR Wire Managing Director Ashan Kumar stated: “We are proud to be the very first independent CarbonNeutral® PR agency in Sri Lanka. This certification demonstrates our commitment to reaching global sustainability standards. We strongly believe that companies across all industries should make the responsible choice and obtain this certification.” He added: “Sri Lanka is opening up and this is a very exciting time for us to innovate within the PR industry locally with big businesses looking at Sri Lanka. We will further optimise our operations and bring in global best practices to our country.
