SLIM elects Ex-Co for 2012/13

The Sri Lanka Institute of Marketing (SLIM) at its 42nd annual general meeting elected a new Executive Committee for the ensuing year.

President Tilan Wijeyasekera pledged to continue the SLIM traditions built up over the past four decades and work to a planned programme setting goals and objectives which can be achieved in the course of the year.

“The Vision of the new Council and Executive committee is to build on the current initiatives that we have been working on over the past few years. This will be done by adding sustainability to our initiatives, whilst daring to go beyond some of our traditional boundaries including taking some of our educational products and awards programs to the international sphere. Meanwhile,  we will develop on nationally important areas of interest by establishing marketing as a driving force in key sectors of the economy. We are confident that the new team will increase the dynamism that the national body of marketing has been known for over the years”, he said.

The outgoing President ThusharaPerera thanked the Committee members and SLIM members for the support given in the past year and wished the new committee an eventful year.

“I wish Tilan and his team the very best as they embark on building SLIM by drawing from its glorious past, which was established through the hard work and vision of our founding fathers, senior members and past presidents. Their contributions have enabled SLIM to reach a stature that any professional body would envy, and I’m confident that the new President and Executive Committee would take SLIM even further than these dizzy heights,” he said.

The meeting was held at King’s Court, Cinnamon Lakeside Hotel.
