SLIM gears up for Brand Excellence 2013

The Sri Lanka Institute of Marketing (SLIM), the national body for marketing has set the ball rolling for Brand Excellence Awards 2013, with the participants’ briefing scheduled to be held on Monday, 29 July 2013 at 6:00 p.m. at The Kingsbury Colombo. Targeting a record of 150 plus entries this year, this is the 12th year of the Awards which will recognise the outstanding performance of brands and brand custodians during the year April 2012 – March 2013. The grand finale is due on 15 October and is billed to be the biggest event to date with an audience of over 900, with the venue being the SLECC. Product brand of the year, service brand of the year, innovative brand of the year, turnaround brand of the year, local brand of the year, best new entrant of the year, international brand of the year, SME brand of the year, CSR brand of the year, export brand of the year, b2b brand of the year and recognition award, the regional brand recognition awards are among the awards to be given away this year. “SLIM Brand Excellence has always been a stupendous event which the industry looked up to and to showcase their brands and recognise brand custodians. Brand excellence has stepped into its 12th consecutive year with much glamour and has expanded its horizons by going regional. This is indeed an indication of its stature and magnitude,” said SLIM President Gamika De Silva, expressing his views on this year’s awards. Project chairman, Charitha Jayasinghe says that the SLIM Brand Excellence Awards is eagerly awaited by the marketing fraternity in Sri Lanka and holds pride of place in the SLIM Calendar as one of its flagship events. SLIM Brands Excellence is the oldest marketing awards in Sri Lanka and over the years have become the premier awards ceremony in the country. SLIM has been widening the scope of the awards over the years, with the experience gained each year. The guidance provided by Postgraduate Institute for Management Director Prof. Uditha Liyanage as the Adviser to the Brand Excellence Committee, since its inception in 2002 is indeed noteworthy, and has helped SLIM in raising the stature of the awards, consecutively.
