SLIM holds open day for CIM students

 Sri Lanka Institute of Marketing (SLIM), the national body for marketing in Sri Lanka and the country’s longest standing accredited study centre for Chartered Institute of Marketing (CIM, UK),  recently conducted an open day for CIM students, with a view to educating them on what prospects this unique qualification offer.

The program held at SLIM Home was organised to add value to students, taking them through step-by-step process of being a CIM student to advancing to various levels in the career path.

The event was graced by Pradeep Edward – Secretary SLIM, G.S. Sylvester – Chairman Education Reforms Committee, Senior Lecturer SLIM, Sumudu Thanthirigoda – Head of Education CIM Regional Board and Learning and Sujith Silva – Head of Membership and Corporate Integration CIM Regional Board

Welcoming the gathering Pradeep Edward elaborated on the point that SLIM was the longest standing accredited study centre for CIM. Eminent lecturer G.S. Sylvester touched on crucial points which justify why one should select CIM as a career path and what makes it special studying at SLIM, importance of being part of SLIM and benefits, and the uniqueness of SLIM. He spoke on ‘Why one should follow CIM?’, ‘What is marketing?’ and ‘How to start CIM?’ Sumudu Thanthirigoda spoke on the ‘Importance of selecting Marketing and its impact to Life’.  

SLIM President Ruwan Liyanagamage said he is extremely happy with the progress CIM has made in Sri Lanka. “Today it stands tall as one of the most sought-after Marketing qualifications in the country. A growing number of employers are specifying the CIM qualification for marketing and sales positions. This also goes very strong into the capabilities of SLIM to market this program locally.”

The Chartered Institute of Marketing (CIM), established in 1911 is the leading international professional marketing body with some 50,000 members worldwide. It’s also a founder member of the European Marketing Confederation which networks with over 150,000 marketers.

SLIM is the National body for Marketing in Sri Lanka and has been promoting marketing excellence and elevating the status of marketing since 1970. It is a member of the National Chamber of Commerce of Sri Lanka (NCCSL), the Federation of Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Sri Lanka (FCCISL). Internationally it is affiliated with ESOMAR, the Federation of Marketing Research Industries and is a member of the Asia Marketing Federation, which is affiliated to the World Marketing Association.
