SLIM holds open day for CIM students

The Sri Lanka Institute of Marketing (SLIM) recently conducted an open day for students sitting for the Chartered Institute of Marketing - UK (CIM) examination, with the aim of educating them about the institute and guiding them on how to face the examination and be successful.

The well planned program conducted at SLIM’s Colpetty branch was intended to add value to students, taking them step by step through the process of gearing students to excel at the examination.

SLIM President Tilan Wijeyesekera noted that SLIM is the longest standing accredited study centre for CIM in Sri Lanka and has been successful in its endeavour as proved by the recognition it has received both at local and international levels, being awarded several accolades. SLIM has produced many a CIM Sri Lanka and world prize winner in the past years which is an indication of the high standard of coaching.

SLIM Vice President Gamika de Silva spoke on the importance of marketing studies and the role of marketing in the current business context and how such professional qualification could assist a person in a highly dynamic business environment. SLIM CEO Sanath Senanayake said that such programs are of much value to the students who will gain confidence when facing examinations held by an international institute to test their knowledge.

SLIM charges the lowest rates for courses and the students are able to get individual tutoring and also attend multiple support sessions.

At the open day session, several experienced tutors made presentations. Senior lecturer and Chairman of the SLIM Education Reforms Committee G.S. Sylvester explained how CIM operates, how subjects should be selected and how to make progress with studies and assignments.

 SLIM lecturer Saliya Weerakoon spoke on becoming a practical marketer and how to be successful at CIM. He hailed the efforts of SLIM in aiding students to become fully fledged marketers. CIM prize winner Ashanthi Kodithuwakku gave tips on how to prepare for CIM examinations and spoke about time management. She further explained how as a student, one should follow CIM, and the support she got from SLIM lecturers.
