SLIM President visits Effie Worldwide

Sri Lanka Institute of Marketing (SLIM) President Kalana Rathnayaka and Immediate Past President Gamika De Silva represented Sri Lanka at the International Effie Partner Meeting, conducted by Effie Worldwide in Brussels, Belgium recently. SLIM - the national body for marketing in Sri Lanka and the partner of Effie Worldwide - came in for high praise from the officials of Effie Worldwide for the manner in which they conducted the Effie Awards in Sri Lanka and for educating the local advertising industry at all levels. In their presentation, the two high-level officials outlined the strategies and concepts used by SLIM in organising the Effie Awards in Sri Lanka, significant local programs over the preceding 12-month period and plans for future engagement. Rathnayaka commented on the outcome of the meeting and the relationship with Effie Worldwide. “We pride ourselves on being a partner of Effie Worldwide and I am delighted with the positive feedback to our presentation. This will energise us to carry out more programs in the future which drive Sri Lankan marketers to develop highly effective marketing campaigns.” De Silva spoke about the plans for Effie Awards Sri Lanka. “The input of Effie officials and the presentations of other national Effie partners have provided valuable inspiration for the next Effie Awards. The endorsement of this world renowned organisation will help SLIM conduct the upcoming event in a grand scale.” The International Effie Partner Meeting had the participation of 19 partner programs from around the world who collaboratively discussed best practices. The main goal of the meeting was to share challenges facing each program and to find solutions while the secondary goal was to share brand updates. All partners were briefed on the ‘Positive Change+’ initiative which aims to recognise and celebrate the most effective marketing programs that have measurably shifted consumer behaviour towards more sustainable choices. Recent changes to the Effie Effectiveness Index, the most comprehensive global ranking of marketing effectiveness, were also discussed. Effie Worldwide stands for effectiveness in marketing communications, spotlighting marketing ideas that work and encouraging thoughtful dialogue about the drivers of marketing effectiveness. The Effie network works with some of the best research and media organisations worldwide to bring its audience relevant and first-class insights into effective marketing strategies.
