SLIM President visits Effie

The Sri Lanka Institute of Marketing (SLIM), the National body for marketing in Sri Lanka is the franchisee of the world renowned Effie Awards which now has 42 franchisees worldwide in six regions. The Effie Awards were founded in 1968 by the American Marketing Association, New York Chapter, as an awards program to recognise the most effective advertising efforts in the United States each year, Since 1968, and particularly in the past five years, Effie has become a source of learning through conferences, judging discussion and briefs providing opportunities for insight into effective marketing communication. Effie worldwide conducted their partner review meeting on 17 September 2013 in Brussels, Belgium. Sri Lanka Institute of Marketing President Gamika De Silva participated at the meeting which was conducted to collaboratively discuss best practices adopted by worldwide partners. They also discussed the technological innovations, facilitated idea sharing among partners and success factors, use of new software for efficiency and effectiveness and many other initiatives which enhanced the value proposition of Effie. De Silva commenting on the outcome of the meeting said: “It was indeed gratifying to meet with rest of the partners and officials of Effie Worldwide who shared many insights of the program and discussed the way forward. “Effie is looked up to by the advertising fraternity in Sri Lanka being the only award show to recognise advertising effectiveness. The improved Effie 2103 with the input of partners and Effie Worldwide will be launched soon. Different perspectives of successful programs worldwide have given an impetus to Effie Sri Lanka.”
