SLIM produces skilled sales professionals at Etisalat

This was the third consecutive year in which SLIM, the national body for marketing, partnered with Etisalat Lanka, the leading mobile telecommunication services provider, for this Corporate Education Project which enhances the talents of sales professionals by awarding a valuable cobranded certificate which is recognized island wide. Madushanka Wijewickrama was selected as the Best Student from a batch comprising of 37 graduates who followed an extensive curriculum during the one year course duration. “We launched this corporate education program in 2010 and so far it has contributed to the improved performance of companies in various industries such as Insurance, PharMa, FMCG, Mobile Telecommunications and Banking. With this level of success we are steadily realising our vision for the program which is to contribute to the Sri Lankan economy in a meaningful way,” said SLIM President Kalana Rathnayaka. SLIM Senior Vice President Ruwan Liyanagamage attended the convocation as the Guest of Honour and presented certificates to the sales professionals. Other special invitees included Chief Guest Riyaaz Rasheed – Deputy Chief Executive Officer/Chief Financial Officer of Etisalat Lanka, Janaka Jayalath – Chief Commercial Officer of Etisalat Lanka, Pradeep Edward, Assistant Secretary of SLIM, and Sanath Senanayake, Chief Executive Officer/Executive Director of SLIM. “Through this program we have delivered accelerated professional development of the staff of a wide range of companies over the past few years. The unique aspect of this programme is that it includes customised education for individual companies and the company performance is embedded into the project, thereby guaranteeing positive results,” said Liyanagamage. The two most sought-after programs in the Corporate Education program are DPS and Preliminary Certificate in Marketing (PCM) and successful completion of each program provides a pathway for employees to pursue postgraduate qualifications and further enhance their career prospects. Fonterra and HNB Assurance, two of the oldest partners, have been reaping the rewards of this highly-acclaimed project for over four years, while Unilever, Harcourts, Nations Trust Bank (NTB) and Janashakthi are among the other partners. “It is pleasing to have built a solid relationship with an international mobile telecommunication giant like Etisalat over the past three years. We have been successful in developing the staff of Etisalat into well-trained sales professionals who are geared with the necessary skills and equipped with the right knowledge to serve the diverse and demanding requirements of the industry,” said SLIM CEO /Executive Director Sanath Senanayake. SLIM is the National body for Marketing in Sri Lanka and has been promoting marketing excellence and elevating the status of marketing since 1970. It is a member of the Federation of Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Sri Lanka (FCCISL). Internationally it is affiliated with ESOMAR, the Federation of Marketing Research Industries and is a member of the Asia Marketing Federation, which is affiliated to the World Marketing Association.
