SLIM represents Sri Lanka at AMF Board meeting

Sri Lanka Institute of Marketing (SLIM) represented Sri Lanka at the recently concluded Asia Marketing Federation (AMF) board meeting in Beijing, China. China, the largest economy in Asia, joined forces with AMF in the year 2013 to host the AGM of the association. The officials made a presentation on marketing activities conducted by SLIM in Sri Lanka during the year 2013. Sri Lanka being in a significant position amongst the member countries, the AMF board was highly impressed with the initiatives undertaken by SLIM to promote the field of marketing in the country, congratulated the officials on their efforts. SLIM Vice President Kalana Rathnayake, SLIM Vice President Dhanesh R. Jayathilaka and SLIM Immediate Past President Tilan Wijeyesekera represented SLIM while AMF Vice President and SLIM Past President Rohan Somawansa was also present at the board meeting. SLIM President Gamika De Silva noted: “The alliance with AMF and our participation at the AMF Board Meeting is evidence of the international acceptance and recognition achieved by SLIM through its unwavering commitment towards the development of the marketing profession in Sri Lanka.” SLIM CEO/Executive Director Sanath Senanayake said: “The presentation made by our officials created a lasting impression on the members of the Board and compared favourably with the work that had been carried out by marketing organisations representing other member nations.” AMF is the networking body of marketing associations in Asia. It is the premier regional body that effectively promotes the interests of marketing and strengthens the Asian marketing fraternity. SLIM founded in 1970, has created a professional educational career path in marketing commencing from the entry level, preliminary certificate in marketing going right up to MBA covering a gamut of disciplines in marketing such as; Brands, Sales Pharmaceutical and Insurance.
