The Asia Pacific ESOMAR conference and country representative meeting took place recently in Jakarta, Indonesia. Himalee Madurasinghe, CEO of Lanka Market Research Bureau Ltd. participated in this event as the first country representative for Sri Lanka and the Secretary of the Market Research Society of Sri Lanka (MRSSL).
ESOMAR is the essential organisation for encouraging, advancing and elevating market research worldwide. The adherence to the ESOMAR code ensures that the rule of law is respected and best practices are taught and adopted. ESOMAR code of conduct was set up many years ago to set its advocates apart from others, and has since been adopted and/or endorsed by 67 Associations in 53 countries across the world. MRSSL became a member of ESOMAR in 2012.
The APAC conference kicked off with the country representatives’ meeting followed by a two- day research conference where informative research papers on varied topics were presented by delegates of countries representing the Asia Pacific region.
In addition to Sri Lanka, country representatives of Australia, Cambodia, Fiji, Hong Kong, Indonesia, Malaysia, Myanmar and Republic of Korea attended the representatives’ meeting. The main discussion point among the many topics discussed at the meeting was how to reinforce the value of market research as a profession.
The suggestion made by Himalee for sharing the content of ESOMAR presentations and their links with clients and end users was accepted with ESOMAR agreeing to provide access to both papers and live streaming.
The two-day research conference that followed the country representative meeting marked the celebration of Asian Creativity, focusing on the uniqueness of Asia and how research can inspire local innovation to drive long-term prosperity across markets, economies and industries.
ESOMAR’s regional Asia event is the annual meeting point for research clients and agencies from the region and beyond. It’s the perfect event to identify new business opportunities and develop greater synergy while joining the discussions with research experts, business strategists and the top creative minds of the region on new insights and innovations.
With over 250 delegates from 29 countries attending the event, the Asia Pacific ESOMAR conference provided the opportunity for the delegates to network and meet the region’s movers and shakers in software, technology and research solutions.
