Sudesh appointed COO at Phoenix Ogilvy

Sudesh Sundhara Moorthy has been appointed Chief Operating Officer of Phoenix Ogilvy, leading Marketing Communications Corporate in Sri Lanka.

Sudesh, is a veteran marketing communications specialist with 15 years of industry experience, ten of them attached to Phoenix Ogilvy and Mather, part of the prestigious WPP Group.

Starting off his career at Phoenix O&M, as a senior Account Manager, Sudesh was and continues to be, a steward for some of the most coveted global and local blue chip brands, such as Coca-Cola.

Being part of the lead team in winning the Sri Lanka Tourism (Tourist Board) account in 2007 and its subsequent repositioning exercise of the brand “Sri Lanka” is a key milestone in Sudesh’s career. In addition to this, working on the ICC Cricket World Cup 2011 project and giving leadership to the team that handled the marketing communication exercise for the biggest international sporting event hosted in Sri Lanka, is yet another, recent highlight of Sudesh’s career at Phoenix O&M.

In recognition of the effectiveness of the brands managed by Sudesh, he has also been responsible for several Effie Awards won by Phoenix O&M over the years.

Sudesh holds an MBA from Edith Cowan University – Australia, and a Postgraduate Diploma in Marketing from the Chartered institute of Marketing – UK. He is currently reading for his Management Accountancy qualification from ICMA - Australia.

Sudesh recently completed a one month long summit style Advanced Leadership Training Programme in USA, being one of the 40 people selected from around the world to attend with the objective of training leaders in empowering them to make an impact in their sphere of influence and a change in their environment.

Sudesh carries with him hands-on experience in planning and developing effective marketing communication programmes that generate sales growth, boost brand strength and effect the bottom line, across a wide range of categories such as Financial Services, Telecommunications, Travel and Tourism, Sport Marketing, Food and Personal Care and Home Appliances to name a few.

In a bid to transmit his knowledge to others, Sudesh also imparts his experience to those following CIM examinations as a lecturer on Marketing Communications.
