Two Lankan Burnetters at Cannes Young Lions Festival for third time

Rameez Fazal and Danushka Kathriarachchi of Leo Burnett Solutions Inc. (LBSI) the Sri Lankan office of the internationally acclaimed advertising agency network Leo Burnett Worldwide will represent Sri Lanka in Cannes at the Young Lions TV category at the 59th Cannes Lions International Festival of Creativity in France.

Speaking of their winning of in the category for Young Lions TV, Rameez said, “I am thrilled to be part of the winning team, this is the second time I have participated in the local Young Lions Competition and I am looking forward to the experience that I would gain by being part of the Sri Lankan team that will be participating. I think the highlight for me has to be the speakers this year, ex-President of the United States of America Bill Clinton and Ridley Scott, the British Film Director.”

Reiterating their win in the Young Lions Competition in the TV category Danushka stated: “The recognition our TVC got from the local judging panel was overwhelming. Our objective was to think out of the box and come up with a creative concept that would highlight the brand Clean and Clear. I feel our concept was both engaging and humorous. I look forward to meet likeminded Young Lions from across the globe to exchange ideas and to learn different methods of engaging the consumer with innovative creative concepts.”

Ranil de Silva, Managing Director Leo Burnett Solutions Inc. speaking on the teams win said, “At Leo Burnett we believe in harnessing creative talent. It is very important to us. That is why we encouraged seven teams to participate in this year’s Young Lions Competition. I was personally thrilled with the placing all the young Burnetters received at this year’s local competition, I was especially proud of the work done by Danushka and Rameez in the TV category and hope they will do Sri Lanka proud by bring home some metal at this year’s Young Lions Competition.”

The Sri Lankan Young Lions will compete against teams from around the world in France this month at the Cannes Festival which will have appearances by Bill Clinton, former US president and  Dick Costolo, the Ceo of social media website Twitter amongst a host of special guests.  The Young Lions Competition presents a unique programme which is tailored to the needs of its carefully selected young marketing communications professionals.  The hand-picked individuals have exclusive access to personalised sessions and tutorials from top industry figures. In addition, they will also participate in the Cannes Festival seminar programmes, workshops and evening networking events.
