Unilever Sri Lanka together with Lowe LDB bagged two metals for Astra and Knorr at the recently concluded Effie Awards 2013 Sri Lanka. This year’s award winners, the Knorr ‘Golden Touch’ and the Astra ‘Fried Rice’ campaigns, took the tally of Effies won together by Unilever and Lowe to 17, making it the most awarded partnership in the history of the Effies in Sri Lanka. “At Unilever, we realise that even the best of products need to be supported with the right marketing communications to help them reach their true potential. With this in mind, we continue to work with the best in the industry, looking for newer, more intuitive ways to connect with our consumers,” said Ramani Samarasundara, Marketing Director Foods of Unilever Sri Lanka. “We believe that we’ve found a partner with a similar focus in Lowe LDB. This partnership, that goes back over 20 years, has delivered many insightful campaigns that have not just driven our diverse brand portfolio but have also enhanced life and well being in Sri Lanka. Lowe LDB as one of our key partners has over the years enabled us to do well by doing good. This is evident in both the awards won over the years and also in winning the hearts and minds of our consumers.” The Unilever Sri Lanka-Lowe LDB alliance has been the force behind the stellar performance of some of the country’s most cherished brands including Sunlight, Lifebuoy, Signal, Astra, Knorr, Surf Excel, Rexona, Fair and Lovely, Vim, Flora and Axe. “Right from our inception, we have placed a premium on understanding the consumer – their wants, needs, and expectations. Formulating our communications around this, we do our best to connect our clients’ brands to these identified consumer insights,” said Chalaka Gajabahu, President of Lowe LDB. “Working with Unilever Sri Lanka for over two decades, we continue to learn from both the client and consumers as we nurture their brands. And the 17 Effie awards we have won together since 2009, the highest by any client-agency team, are testament to the effectiveness of this partnership.” Organised by the Sri Lanka Institute of Marketing (SLIM) in partnership with the Association of Accredited Advertising Agencies (4As) Sri Lanka, the Effies seek to recognise effective marketing communications in the country.
