Young Burnetters to represent Sri Lanka at Spikes Asia Festival 2013

Chani Perera and Induwarani Munasinghe of Leo Burnett Solutions Inc. (LBSI) the Sri Lankan office of the internationally acclaimed advertising agency network Leo Burnett Worldwide will represent Sri Lanka in Singapore at the Young Spikes competition in the integrated category at the Spikes Asia Festival 2013 after emerging as the winners in the Young Spikes competition held in Colombo.
Speaking of their victory and on their selection to represent Sri Lanka at the Young Spikes integrated competition, Chani Perera said, “Opportunities like these are great as they give us a chance to make a mark in the advertising industry as well as to gain recognition for our work. Our concept was simple but I think it had an edge. This recognition is amazing. We now must meet with success at Spikes Asia in Singapore.”
Reflecting upon their challenge in Singapore at the Young Spikes Competition in the integrated category, Induwarani Munasinghe stated: “Chani and I are looking forward to the workshops and seminars which will give us invaluable learning to pursue our passion for innovative communications concepts. I am also looking forward to networking with the other participants from the industry from across the region. Most importantly we hope we will meet with success at the competition and bring home the gold for Sri Lanka.”
Ranil de Silva, Managing Director Leo Burnett Solutions Inc. speaking on the team’s win said: “At Leo Burnett we believe in encouraging our young professionals. We have several programmes and initiatives which are designed to develop the young talent within the team. I believe that Chani and Indu were able to gain this honour due to the learning and exposure they gain on an ongoing basis at work. I am very proud of these two young ladies and their success at the local competition. I hope they will do Sri Lanka proud by being victorious at the Young Spikes Competition at the Spikes Asia Festival 2013.”
The competition to select Sri Lanka’s Champions for the Young Spikes Asia competition was conducted by Metal factor in partnership with the 4 A’s, the Association of Accredited Advertising Agencies and was sponsored by MBC under their popular radio station Yes FM. The local competition was conducted in two stages with the finalists presenting their ideas to an audience comprising of the industry fraternity.
Taking place from 15 to 17 September at Suntec Singapore, Spikes Asia will offer three days of seminars and forums done by some of the greatest minds in the business, as well as showcase some of the greatest work coming out of the region, allowing a true indulgence into creative excellence. The Young Spikes Competition will give rising stars the opportunity to compete in integrated, media & agency shootout competitions with the hope of taking home the prestigious gold medal.
The Spikes Asia Festival of Creativity is also investing in the future of the creative communications industry with four academies that will be run throughout the 2013 Festival: the Young Creatives Academy, the Young Marketers Academy, the Young Media Academy and the Young Account Executive Academy.
Events like Networking After Dark, where an exclusive selection of Singapore’s agencies open their doors for a night of parties are much awaited and would provide great networking opportunities. Spikes Asia is a celebration of creativity.
