Young Lions Marketer Competition; Cannes Advertising Festival 2013

The Sri Lanka Institute of Marketing (SLIM) once again take the honour and pride to bring yet another breakthrough in Sri Lankan marketing history, by coming together with the two advertising industry bodies The 4A’s and the IAA, to provide a golden opportunity to two young marketers of our country to become the face of Sri Lanka’s marketing fraternity at the Cannes Young Lions Marketer Competition at the Cannes Lions Festival of Creativity 2013.

SLIM activities are directed at enhancing its memberships’ professional competence, together with the aim of enhancing recognition and wider acceptance of the marketing profession as a key management function. This program will certainly be a platform of recognition and reward for outstanding young talent enabling them to benchmark themselves with the best in the world.

The Participating team is selected through a local competition and the winners will get the golden opportunity to attend the Cannes Lions festival in June to compete in the Young Lions Marketer Competition where they would compete against teams from all over the world. This would be a very rewarding experience that will empower the winning team’s career as marketers.

The Young Lions Competitions offer a space for national teams of young creatives from around the world to compete against each other and showcase their creative talent. Winning a Young Lions Competition is a hugely rewarding experience that will change ones career forever. Country representatives will be competing against the most talented creative young professionals from across the world and if you win, you’ll get to go on stage at Cannes Lions and pick up a medal in front of the entire international communication industry.

The Sri Lankan Marketers will have the opportunity to attend seminars and workshops specially designed for them under the guidance of a leading international professional. In addition to attending the program designed for the Marketers, these participants will also have access to many of the programs conducted at festival.

The criteria for qualification are: the nominated individuals must be below 30 years of age (Born on or after 22 June 1982), they must be Sri Lankan nationals, participants must be employed as a marketer of a reputed organisation and participants must be fluent in English.

The Young Lions Marketer Competition (SLIM Sri Lanka), 2012 winners Dinal and Wishmini said: “Cannes Lions, the 59th International Festival of Creativity, held from 17 to 23 June 2012 was an amazing and insightful week that added great value to our marketing careers. We were privileged to attend many stimulating seminars featuring not only world famous brands such as Coca Cola, facebook, The Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation of USA but also global celebrities such as Bill Clinton and Nadia Comaneci.”

They went onto say that, “The Young Marketers competition was an exhilarating experience and it was disappointing to miss out on being placed in the top three. We would like to thank SLIM, Metal Factor and Aitken Spence for providing us this wonderful opportunity to participate in this year’s festival.”
