The Classic Car Cub of Ceylon hosted yet another successful iteration of the annual Mana Jayawardena Rally on 18 March. The rally commenced with the participation of over 40 classic sports and saloon cars in the early hours of the morning from the Nawam Mawatha car park and took participants through the winding streets of Colombo as well as Rajagiriya with the finish line being at Jetwing Colombo 07, where participants were treated to a sumptuous breakfast with some light musical entertainment.
Participants had to navigate their way through the route by means of a ‘Tulip Chart’ which is always a challenging yet fun exercise, while also answering a selection of questions along the way. “The level of enthusiasm shown by the members for this event which is one of our staple annual events is just great. It is also lovely too see so many kids participating with their parents and making a truly enjoyable family event,” said Classic Car Club of Ceylon President Ramani Ponnambalam.
The Mana Jayawardena rally is an event held annually in memory of the club’s founder president and each year the club selects a deserving charity or organisation to make a financial contribution to support their efforts. This year the club made a contribution to the Sri Lanka Cancer Society to aid them in the truly amazing work they do, which was represented by its President A.J.B. Anghie.
