The official website of Ideal Motors, Sri Lanka’s leading vehicle assembly, import, and distribution company, has been recognised with three awards at the BestWeb.lk competition. The site, idealmotors.lk, took home the Gold award for Best Automotive Website, Most Popular Automotive Website, and Best Mobile User Experience in the automotive category.

The BestWeb.lk competition recognises and celebrates websites registered under the .lk domain, organised by the LK Domain Registry, a non-profit organisation. The competition is held under the expert guidance of a panel of professionals, including Professor Gihan Dias from the University of Moratuwa.

A standout aspect of this achievement is that the website was created entirely as an in- house project as a part of digital transformation journey by a team of new web designers within the company. Ideal Motors Group Head of Information Technology Department Sharanga Jayathilake commented, “We built this website completely in-house, leveraging the talents of our new web designers. After providing them with the necessary technical training and guidance, we completed the website in just two months by adapting modern UI/UX design with key elements including user-centred design, simplicity, accessibility, responsive layouts, and Al driven user experience comprising latest security deployments. “Also, he emphasised that providing training opportunities for newcomers to gain hands-on experience is a key initiative carried out across the group, inspired by the vision of Ideal Group of Companies Founder and Chairman Nalin Welgama.

Jayathilake further acknowledged the joint efforts of the company’s IT and marketing teams, including Head of Marketing Harsha K. Perera, and Senior Marketing Manager Sujeewa Amarasooriya, in bringing the project to fruition. He emphasised that the enthusiasm and innovative spirit of the new designers made the task significantly easier.

The BestWeb.lk competition also allowed for open voting to determine the Most Popular Website, while the Gold award winners were selected based on multiple factors, such as the attractiveness and user-friendliness of the website’s interface, adherence to international standards, colour contrast, and information management. The panel of IT experts, led by Professor Gihan Dias, evaluated various aspects including user retention, UI/UX methodologies, mobile interface functionality, and cyber security measures.

What makes this achievement even more remarkable is that Ideal Motors was honoured with three gold awards in all categories of the automotive sector which is an impressive moment for the company.

Ideal Motors Head of Marketing Harsha K. Perera commented, “The corporate culture at Ideal Motors is unique and open. We provide free technical training to interns, which in a way, is a form of social service. By combining the technical education we offered with the fresh ideas and creativity of these young designers, we were able to achieve something truly exceptional.”

Another standout feature of idealmotors.lk is the integration of an AI-powered chatbot, designed to make accessing information quick and easy for users. The website’s visually appealing interface further enhances the browsing experience, ensuring that users can navigate with ease.
