Land Rover thrills fans in the UK with display of action vehicles from latest James Bond movie

Land Rover fans in the United Kingdom are in for a rare treat as two vehicles that are part of one of the most successful movie franchises in the world – James Bond – are now on display in London.

The Land Rover action vehicles from the latest James Bond film ‘No Time To Die’ are now available for viewing at the ‘Bond In Motion’ at the London Film Museum. 

‘Bond In Motion,’ in association with EON Productions, has over 100 individual original items on display from the James Bond film series including concept drawings, storyboards, scripts, model miniatures, costumes and full-size cars, boats, and motorbikes. Included in the new display is James Bond’s Land Rover Series III from Jamaica as well as Ash’s New Land Rover Defender 110 from Norway.

‘No Time To Die,’ directed by Cary Joji Fukunaga, is the 25th official James Bond movie and will hit cinemas across the world in April 2020. Daniel Craig reprises his role as the super spy where he’ll be faced with a new enemy played by Oscar-winning actor Rami Malek of ‘Bohemian Rhapsody’ fame.

Chris Corbould is the Special Effects and Action Vehicles Supervisor of ‘No Time To Die’. The movie is Chris Corbould’s 15th James Bond film and his 9th as Special Effects Supervisor. According to Corbould, to capture the perfect action sequence using the Land Rover vehicles, the action vehicles team worked closely with numerous engineers from Jaguar Land Rover. 

During the early stages of the project, discussions were held with Jaguar Land Rover to produce the first batch of eight New Land Rover Defenders, a very secretive mission as, at this stage, the world had no idea of the design of the highly-anticipated new vehicle. 

Several Defenders were eventually fitted out with complete roll cages, safety fuel cells, fire extinguisher systems, hydraulic hand brakes, battery isolators, rally seats and five-point harnesses to successfully carry out the stunts that are bigger and more jaw-dropping than ever before.

Stunt Coordinator, Lee Morrison added that all the vehicles deployed in the film performed brilliantly. “We knew we wanted to achieve something off-road and the New Defender didn’t disappoint. We put the vehicles through the most extreme conditions in a chase sequence, and they were unstoppable,” he added.
