Nissan has had a successful affiliation with the Red Bull F1 team since 2011 as its official van supplier. The team have used over 30 Nissan vehicles to support the transportation needs of Red Bull Racing.
Red Bull also has a partnership with Nissan’s luxury automotive brand Infiniti through their relationship with Renault, Red Bull’s engine supplier. Renault owns 44% of Nissan, with Nissan holding 15% equity in Renault.
Although the partnership began as a marketing and technical agreement where Infiniti would receive branding on the car and the driver’s clothing, and the sharing of technical knowledge, it has now evolved in to much more. Infiniti is now looking to get involved in the actual development of the world champion team’s engines for the 2014 season.
Speaking on AMW’s opportunity to be a part of one of the greatest moments in Sri Lanka’ s racing history, General Manager Nissan/AMW Yohann De Zoysa noted: “AMW has a long standing history of being affiliated with world renowned champion brands. Our partnership with Nissan dates back to decades of success. We are indeed very proud to have been an integral part of the Red Bull Racing team’s visit to Sri Lanka.”
De Zoysa added: “When most of us think of Nissan, we think of comfort, luxury and classy road vehicles. Then there’s another segment that thinks of Nissan as the powerful SUVs and 4-wheel drives that suit any trail and terrain. But what most people do not know if that the powerful engines inside the Red Bull F1 car have similar DNA strains as a domestic Nissan through the connection with Infiniti and Renault.”
