The awards ceremony to reward the top 25 dealers of the tyre retreading division of Associated Motorways Limited (AMW), one of the leading organisations in Sri Lanka, was held under the name ‘Top 25 Dealers’ Convention’ in grand style at the Kandalama Hotel under the patronage of the President of the company, Thilak de Zoysa recently. Twenty five dealers who had demonstrated the best sales out of over 700 dealers spread island-wide got the opportunity of participating in this grand awards ceremony along with their families.
AMW manufacturer of retreaded tyres under the brand name ‘Marathon’, is the only tyre retreading company in Sri Lanka with the ability to rebuild tyres of any rim size, by using the pre- cured, conventional, Vacu – Lug and Die – Hard methods.
This year’s awards ceremony, organised in a different way at Hotel Kandalama, was held for two days as a get-together between the families of tyre dealers with several entertainment programs that could be participated by every one present.
de Zoysa said, “Behind the very special success our company achieved during the past few years, were our dealers, who are the strength of our company. I am very happy of this opportunity to get together with them and their families and strengthen the bonds of friendship that hold us together at least once a year. I see this chance to socialise with our dealers and their family members as a get-together of the same family as the generation of a great bond and friendship among our dealers of this country.”
In this ‘Top 25 Dealers’ Convention’ held for the year 2011, Gamini Lokubalasuriya (Gampaha tyre dealer) was awarded the ‘Best dealer of the Year’ award. The second and third best dealers were Kithsiri Bandara (Supiri Tyre House – Kandy) and Newton Pieris (M.J.R Peiris and Sons – Kandy) and they were presented with valuable prizes, awards and certificates.
Participating in this awards ceremony AMW Director/Manufacturing Pushpika Janadeera said, “During the past two years, our tyre retreading division was able to achieve over 25% annual growth, which is a very special achievement. The dedication, interest and co-operation demonstrated by our dealers to achieve that growth was a powerful catalyst. That is why we made this year’s dealers’ convention into a family get-together filled with togetherness. We are intending to get more tyre dealers to participate in these family get-togethers through the company’s expansion plans that will come into fruition in the near future. Among those expansions, there is a plan to add another factory to expedite the supply of retreaded tyres to all areas of Sri Lanka.”
With two massive scale tyre retreading factories located in Kalutara and Anuradhapura, AMW have won the standards certifications of ISO 9001:2008 for Quality Management System and the ISO 14001:2004 for environmental Management system.
