The Classic Car Club of Ceylon and Land Rover, will once again present ‘British Car Day’, an event, which showcases British cars and motorbikes from the 1930s all the way up through the years. The event will give the public an opportunity to feast their eyes on some spectacular cars from different eras. Iconic brands such as Aston Martin, Jaguar, Lotus, MG, Triumph, Rolls Royce, Austin, Ford and many more will be on display. In an effort to showcase and pay tribute to these British masterpieces, the community of Classic Car enthusiasts works tirelessly to restore and preserve their cars, which are now considered works of art. The owners of these cars will also be attired in period outfits, adding to the authenticity of the event and bringing a touch of humour. “One of the main goals of The Classic Car Club of Ceylon is to get the public interested and excited about classic cars and to see more of them restored and back on the road. ‘British Car Day’ is all about showcasing and celebrating classic British cars and bikes. Last year’s inaugural event was a resounding success and we hope that this year’s event with the support of event sponsor SML Frontier Automotive Ltd. and partners Legends 96.6 and The Kingsbury Hotel will be an even greater success,” said Romesh Paul, President, Classic Car Club of Ceylon. The British Car Day is organised by the Classic Car Club of Ceylon with the support of event sponsor SML Frontier Automotive, agents for Land Rover in Sri Lanka. The term “Quintessentially British” comes to mind when referring to Land Rover. Widely regarded as the best off-road vehicle in existence, Land Rover continues to carry on the British tradition of excellence in automotive design. “Land Rover has a long-standing relationship with the Classic Car Club of Ceylon. Our sponsorship of the ‘British Car Day’ is an opportunity for us to continue our support of classic cars, and at the same time we can showcase our vehicles in the right setting to a group of enthusiasts, who like Land Rover owners, have an affinity and love for their amazing automobiles,” said Sheran Fernando, Managing Director, SML Frontier Automotive. The event will take place in one of the city’s most iconic settings, the glorious expanses of the Town Hall grounds. British Car Day will be held on Sunday 15 February. An 80-car parade will begin from this amazing venue at 10 a.m. and make its way to the Kingsbury Hotel where the public will be able see them shine in glory until late afternoon.
