The Classic Car Club of Ceylon together with Land Rover recently conducted the British Car Day in Sri Lanka.
The event started at 8 a.m. from F.R Senanayake Mawatha and attracted close to 100 classic British automobiles.
The vehicles, which belong to well-known enthusiasts, were showcased at the venue before beginning a parade route through the heart of Colombo. The parade, which was a sight to behold, ended at The Kingsbury Hotel where all the Classic Car Club members were treated to an exceptional breakfast in truly British style.
Land Rover made a mark on the event having a vintage Series 1 defender as the lead vehicle, in which the Deputy High Commissioner of Britain travelled as the Guest of honour.
Land Rover also had on display its latest range of high-end vehicles including the Range Rover Sport, Range Rover Supercharged and the ever-popular Evoque.
“Land Rover has always been a major part of the British motor industry. We are very happy to be a part of this event and it gives us the opportunity to showcase our most modern products, in the backdrop of the best cars Britain ever made. We hope the Classic Car Club makes this an annual event, as it is truly great, and we can build on it from year to year. Land Rover will definitely be a part of it once again,” said Sheran Fernando, Managing Director of SML Frontier Automotive.
Every classic British marque was represented, ranging from Jaguar, Aston Martin and Triumph to Lotus, MG and Rolls Royce.
The magnificent weather on the day was equalled by the surroundings and the cars present. Being a niche event, the camaraderie was clear to see with everyone in attendance sharing their passion for all things British and catching up with old friends.
The Classic Car Club of Ceylon and Land Rover brought this wonderful event to life with an impressive turnout of man and machine.
