Carmudi, the German-based online vehicle classifieds platform, within three months of setting up operations in Sri Lanka, conducted its first corporate social responsibility (CSR) project in association with the Alcohol and Drugs Information Centre (ADIC), and supported by Miqi’s Auto on 21 September.               In an endeavour to make drivers aware of the dangers of driving after consuming alcohol that would lead to serious accidents resulting in loss of limb, grievous injuries as well as fatalities, officials of Carmudi and ADIC spent time on the road, advising drivers against the dangers they could encounter when they drive in a state of inebriation. The discussions with the drivers and the passengers were stimulating as the resultant dangers on driving after the intake of alcohol, not only to the driver but to the passengers as well as other road users, and pedestrians in particular were highlighted. The campaign saw around 50 cars stop at the venue of the campaign, and drivers who took the time off to participate were rewarded with a free car wash by a professional service provider Miqi’s Auto, courtesy Carmudi. Volunteers attached to ADIC and officers of Carmudi, during the joint operation, also distributed leaflets that highlighted the need to refrain from driving after consuming alcohol due to the dangers involved and the detrimental effects to one’s health by consuming alcohol.
