By Inshira Shainaz ‘Carmudi’ relaunched its website last week to give customers a hassle-free experience of buying and selling vehicles in emerging markets. The website has been created in a manner that even when the internet is slow, users will be able to prepare a vehicle for sale in less than two minutes as only the relevant information desired by the user gets loaded. Carmudi offers a highly-personalised experience for buyers to choose their vehicles based not only on the conventional options of price, mileage, colour or brand type, but also their lifestyle. Carmudi was founded in 2013 and, apart from operations in Sri Lanka, is globally active in 20 other countries.               Through Carmudi, a vehicle will be up for sale in a matter of seconds in terms of uploading the images, contact information and details of the vehicle, enabling ease of usage. A seller can reach thousands of interested buyers in a few seconds through this service which is absolutely free. Speaking at the relaunch, Carmudi Sri Lanka Managing Director Firaz Markar stated: “Our parent company is Rocketinternet, which is the largest venture capital firm. We have thousands of buyers visiting per day and 3,000 vehicles were listed within a short time period. Vehicle seekers can search through all the 3,000 listed vehicles using our easy options. It is just a two-minute process.” “Our listing process is the fastest in the market right now and we have taken all the lessons and experiences from other countries and relaunched our website to ensure a hassle-free experience for our customers,” he added. This platform serves as a 24/7 salesman to ensure that communication between buyers and sellers remains constant. The sellers are duly notified about potential customers who express interest in the vehicles placed on the site, resulting in active sales between buyers and sellers. The website also has a ‘My Garage’ feature, where customers will be able to compare their findings with all car specifications on a single page and obtain a preview before choosing a car. While visiting showroom and individual listings can take a minimum of two days in a search for a suitable vehicle, on Carmudi it only takes minutes to search through a range of showrooms located in various parts of the country as well as vehicles listed by individual sellers. Professional photos, updated lists, detailed descriptions, reports and rankings of all the listed vehicles makes the selling and buying experience completely stress-free. The vehicles listed on the site are shared through Carmudi’s social media platform, which speeds up the process. Pix by Lasantha Kumara
