CEAT Kelani Holdings has achieved record sales of passenger car and van radials in May 2013, enabling Sri Lanka’s leading pneumatic tyre manufacturer to increase its market share in this product segment to a dominant 30% plus. May sales of CEAT radials exceeded 20,000, reinforcing the brand’s position as the highest-selling radial tyre in the country, the company said. “Surpassing 20,000 radial tyres per month is a key milestone for us. We anticipated this growth and have already planned expansion to double our capacity,” said Raman Rajagopalan Managing Director of CEAT-Kelani. “We have added many new sizes in the car and van categories, which has facilitated growth,” Rajagopalan added. “Today, radial sales account for more than 20% of CEAT-Kelani’s annual revenue, and with more new sizes for cars and SUVs in the pipeline, we expect our volumes to increase and drive market share growth.” CEAT radial tyres manufactured in Sri Lanka are also exported to 14 countries and expansion of capacity would enable the company to cater to rising demand in the international market, he added. “We now have more than 850,000 users of CEAT radials in Sri Lanka, and an unaided brand recall of 90%, competing in a segment with many global leaders,” said Ravi Dadlani – Vice President Sales and Marketing. “This is excellent progress that justifies expansion and upgrading of our radial production facilities in Sri Lanka.” Over the past two years, CEAT Kelani has invested substantially in improved raw materials and compounds, new designs and tread patterns and sophisticated quality testing equipment to bring about a multidimensional upgrade of the quality of its radial tyres, now marketed under the brand CEAT Milaze. These improvements translate to greater riding comfort and longer tyre life. A global tyre brand present in 110 countries, CEAT’s credentials is built on performance. A National Business Excellence Award winner in 2010, 2011, and 2012, CEAT-Kelani Holdings is a successful Indo-Sri Lanka joint venture between the RPG Group of India and Kelani Tyre, Sri Lanka. The company operates three manufacturing units manufacturing truck, light truck, radial, motorcycle, three-wheeler and agricultural tyres and employs a workforce of 1,000 people.
