Ceylon Motor Show 2015: Sri Lanka’s official motor show set to shift into high gear

The Ceylon Motor Show 2015, organised by the Ceylon Motor Traders Association and the Classic Car Club of Ceylon is set to take centre stage from 8 to 10 May at the BMICH. Taking place from 5 p.m. to 11 p.m. on Friday and 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday, the motor show is set to enthral car enthusiasts once again at this year’s installation, with an even wider range of classics and cutting edge motor vehicles.
Speaking on the motor show, Ceylon Motor Traders Association President Gihan Pilapitiya said, “The Ceylon Motor Traders Association is very pleased to announce the 2015 installation of the Ceylon Motor Show. As always, we hope to provide a memorable and exciting experience for car lovers of all ages and an insight into the inner workings of the automotive industry. Organising this motor show every other year is the highlight of our calendar and we are pleased to announce that this year’s show includes some special cars by brands that have never been seen before in Sri Lanka.”
Since the event is the only motor show held in Sri Lanka that has the support of all the motor traders in the industry, it gives the show access to all the major vehicle brands in Sri Lanka, including a host of new models. It houses vehicles of all descriptions, including motorbikes, SUVs and commercial vehicles. Additionally, the motor show’s wide collection of classic cars promises not to disappoint.
Speaking on the range of classics at this year’s event, Classic Car Club of Ceylon President Romesh Paul said: “This year’s event will house over 150 of Sri Lanka’s rarest classics. These cars come from a range of manufacturers from England, America, Germany, Italy, France and even Japan and the collection is certainly one not to be missed. The event will deliver on all fronts, as it is a fun event for the entire family to come down and enjoy.”
The Ceylon Motor Traders Association, is an affiliated trade organisation of the Ceylon Chamber of Commerce since 1919, and is made up of all the franchise holders representing the leading automotive brands of the world. The association aims to promote, foster and protect the welfare of the various business interests of the Motor Vehicle franchise holders in Sri Lanka.
The Classic Car Club of Ceylon brings together over 250 members with a profound respect and passion for classic cars. The club provides the foundation for the preservation of classic vehicles through the interaction of members and by providing opportunities to exercise these machines in a safe environment via regular club events. It also drives the love for classics by organising public and educational events giving a wider audience access to the history and beauty of these vehicles.
