To introduce the latest Mercedes-Benz range and also to create awareness about DIMO Premier, DIMO recently organised an event at Galle under the name ‘Star Experience’. This was the fifth Star Experience event organised with previous events held in Ratnapura, Kandy, Polonnaruwa and Kurunegala. The event was held at the Dutch Hospital Shopping Precinct in Galle on 27 February and on the invitation of DIMO more than 120 customers, Mercedes-Benz enthusiasts and their spouses attended the event. The attendees included existing Mercedes-Benz owners, potential Mercedes-Benz owners and key opinion leaders in the Southern region. The event also marked the first instance where the Mercedes-Benz GLA was displayed. Apart from this, several other brand new vehicles were on display at the event as well, including the 2014 new C-Class, the 2014 new E-Class, the new CLA 4-door coupe, the new S-Class, the new 2015 Jeep Cherokee and the Jeep Wrangler Unlimited. The invitees were made aware of the advantages of buying a Mercedes-Benz from DIMO, and the facilities available at DIMO800 – Mercedes-Benz Center. DIMO also highlighted the benefits of working with the only authorised distributor for Mercedes-Benz in Sri Lanka – when buying a brand new vehicle, a pre-owned vehicle, doing servicing and repairs and even when buying genuine parts for a Mercedes-Benz. The event turned out to be a one-of-a-kind experience for the invitees where they were able to improve their knowledge about Mercedes-Benz. Moreover, DIMO had made arrangements to display a range of Mercedes-Benz accessories at the event, where customers had the opportunity to purchase them and enhance their association with the three-pointed star. The Dutch Hospital Shopping Precinct is one of the oldest buildings in the Galle Fort which dates back to the Dutch Colonial era (17th century). In 2006 the International Council on Monuments and Sites (ICOMOS) commenced conservation and restoration works to the roof, walls, windows and other architectural details. The restoration works were subsequently completed in March 2011. In 2014, the building was converted into a shopping and dining precinct, while preserving the historic architecture. The collection of three pointed stars added color and enhanced the visual allure of the Dutch Hospital Shopping Precinct during the event. DIMO was represented by Directors Channa Weerawardena, Suresh Gooneratne and Sarath Algama, Mercedes-Benz Service Head Tharanga Gunawardena), Mercedes-Benz Passenger Car Sales and Parts DGM Rajeev Pandithage and Mercedes-Benz Passenger Car Sales Manager Dinesh Gunaratne. The event was organised by Team Mercedes-Benz along with the DIMO Matara branch.
