The Mercedes-Benz After-Sales Conference recently came to a successful end at the new Mercedes-Benz Centre in Colombo. Mercedes-Benz Service Heads from Southeast Asia took part at this event, in addition to the delegation from Sri Lanka. This was the first instance Daimler has chosen a location which is not a 5 star hotel for this annual After-Sales Conference. Many months before the event, a team from Daimler came to inspect the venue and check the feasibility of hosting the conference at the Mercedes-Benz Center of Excellence, also known as DIMO800. The DIMO800 auditorium, where the conference was held, came under strict scrutiny and was compared against the best standards available in Europe before being selected.                 The participants were accommodated at the Cinnamon Lakeside Hotel and two Mercedes-Benz Sprinter coaches transported them between several venues during the three days. The two-day program was hosted by After Sales GD Markets S&SEA, South Pacific, Daimler AG, General Manager Alex Chen. DIMO Chairman Ranjith Pandithage, in his opening address, thanked Daimler for their selection of and trust in DIMO and the DIMO800 venue. He assured participants that the best infrastructure and hospitality was available to them during the event. He went on to mention that this brings pride not only to DIMO but also to Sri Lanka. By the end of the conference, participants had shared their thoughts and each one of them echoes the same sentiments about Sri Lankan hospitality, impeccable care and service by DIMO, the state and nature of DIMO800 and the detail which had gone into the planning of the entire event. The two Classic Mercedes-Benz ‘Master Pieces’ owned by Sidath Fernando which were parked inside the auditorium during the conference was another unique sight which added lot of glamour and liveliness to the overall experience. The majority of the participants mentioned that out of the many Mercedes-Benz service events that they had taken part in, the conference held at DIMO was probably the best they have ever attended. They were pleasantly surprised by the warmth and hospitality of Sri Lankans and equally with how the entire event was organised. Many went on to say that the Mercedes-Benz facility at DIMO800 is definitely among the top Mercedes-Benz Centres around the world. The majority of those present were visiting Sri Lanka for the first time and their experience was so pleasant that several of them extended their stay in the country to explore Colombo and other famous tourist attractions. With the next conference most likely to be held at a 5-star hotel in Brunei in 2015, Alex Chen mentioned that the bar had been raised quite high by DIMO and that it would be difficult for other countries to reach it.
