The Mercedes-Benz Club of Sri Lanka together with Diesel & Motor Engineering PLC (DIMO) organised a fun rally for its members recently. The rally started from the Independence Square and ended at the Barista Lavazza – Museum Cafe on Green Path. The route included University of Colombo, Flower Road, Duplication Road, Galle Road, Marine Drive, Fort, D.R. Wijewardena Mawatha, Darley Road and Green Path. Over 25 Mercedes-Benz Club members took part in the rally.
DIMO is the only Authorised Distributor for Mercedes-Benz vehicles in Sri Lanka. Activities of this kind contribute to and acknowledge the growing Mercedes-Benz community, where customer appreciation is at peak levels. Therefore, Mercedes-Benz Club has witnessed more enthusiasts joining the club and taking part with their various Mercedes-Benz models.
Many different Mercedes-Benz passenger car models took part in the rally, which also included classics and young classics. Two significant models at the rally were the Mercedes-Benz 190 SL owned by Freddie Alles and a Mercedes-Benz W114 250C owned by Sidath Fernando. Apart from the above the following models too took part – W115, Mercedes-Benz W123, Mercedes-Benz W124, Mercedes-Benz W126, the new A-Class, the latest A45 AMG, SL (R129 & R230) models, C-Class, E-Class and the S-Class (W221 and W222) models.
The Mercedes-Benz Club of Sri Lanka was initiated in 1990 by several individuals who were passionate about automobiles and who had a special preference towards the three-pointed star. The Mercedes-Benz Club celebrated its 25th Anniversary this year. The Mercedes-Benz Club consists of people from different professions and backgrounds, but sharing the same passion of owning and driving Mercedes-Benz cars.
Many activities are organised by the club to promote fellowship and bring its members together, out of which the Mercedes-Benz Pageant is the most famous. DIMO has been supporting this exclusive club throughout the years, as a patron. DIMO assists the club members by providing technical assistance and in maintaining/restoring their classics and young classic cars.
