Hero Motocorp awarded “Manufacturing Innovator of the Year” by TIME magazine

HeroAbans Auto, the sole agent for HERO Motorcycles in Sri Lanka, proudly announced that Hero MotoCorp has received the coveted “Manufacturing Innovator of the Year” award at the inaugural TIME India Awards, instituted by the New York – headquartered TIME Magazine, one of the world’s oldest and most prestigious news magazines.

Hero MotoCorp Chairman,  MD and CEO Pawan Munjal had the privilege of receiving the award from the Prime Minister of India Narendra Modi at a glittering function held in Mumbai on 13 February  which coincided with the inauguration of ‘Make In India Week’.

Amongst the other dignitaries present at this mega event were the Prime Minister of Sweden Kjell Stefan Lofven, Prime Minister of Finland Juha Petri Sipila, Cisco’s John Chambers, the Governor of Maharashtra Vidyasagar Rao, Chief Minister of Maharashtra Devendra Fadnavis, representatives of 17 state governments, foreign government delegations from as many as 68 countries and business teams from 72 countries.

Hero MotoCorp was selected for this award from 9 finalists, after a rigorous evaluation process involving qualitative and quantitative metrics, out of 3000 manufacturing companies. The Jury included some of the most illustrious global personalities such as General Electric Vice Chairman John Rice; Nissan Renault CEO Carlos Ghosn; Infosys Chairman N.R. Narayana Murthy; Chairman McKinsey & Co. Kevin Sneader ; ICICI Bank Managing Director and CEO Chanda Kochhar ; while TIME Inc. Chief Content Officer Norman Pearlstine was the Chairman of the Jury.

Hero MotoCorp based in Delhi, India is the largest manufacturer of motorcycles and scooters in India.  The prestigious award comes in the wake of a year that has started exceptional well for the company with it’s superlative third quarter financial results – better EBITDA and better profitability. The company also stole the show at the Auto Expo held earlier this month by showcasing some of their new products and future concepts, while the Hero MotoCorp pavilion was adjudged the best stall at the Expo.
